Duplex Alternator
MPE Alternating Relays are designed to perform automatic alternation motors or other types of loads, and are available in 120 VAC. The Alternator causes the loads to have even run times. The output relay contacts of the Alternating Sequence Relay change state each time the control switch is opened. Many wiring options are available for these Duplex Alternators as well as these hardware options for the Sequencer: (1) A lead/lag/automatic selector switch and (2) A push-to-test switch for added convenience or trouble shooting.

Small Case Version
The 008-120-10 series of alternators were designed for automatic duplex control of motors or other types of loads. They are available in a single phase voltage of 120 VAC. When power is applied to the alternator, the output relay contacts change state each time the control voltage is disconnected.

Installation Instruction N/A
  1. Connect pins 3 and 4 of the alternator to a single phase AC supply as shown in the installation diagram above.
  2. The hot side of the AC voltage is connected to one side of the control switch and to pins 1 and 4 of the alternator. The opposite side of the control switch is connected to pin 5 of the alternator.
  3. One side of each contactor coil is connected to either pin 2 or 8 of the alternator depending upon the user preference for Lead/Lag designation.
  4. The neutral side of the AC supply is connected to pin 3 of the alternator and to the opposite sides of the contactor coils.

A single phase AC line and properly rated light bulbs are needed to test any alternator in the M.P.E. product line.

  1. The AC line and light bulbs must be connected to the alternator as shown in the test method diagram above.
  2. When the control switch is operated, the light bulbs will alternate on and off.
